Andrea Ruggeri
Global Public PoliciesAndrea Ruggeri (PhD Essex, 2011) is since April 2024 Professor of Political Science at the University of Milan. He was for ten years Professor of Political Science and International Relations at the University of Oxford. He was also the University of Oxford convenor of the Hub on Conflict, Peace and Security. He joined Brasenose College and the Department of Politics and International Relations of the University of Oxford in 2014 after being Assistant Professor of International Relations at the University of Amsterdam since 2010. He served as Director of the Centre for International Studies at the University of Oxford. He is Research Fellow at Michael Nicholson Centre for Conflict and Cooperation, University of Essex. Now he is the national co-convener of the Italian Standing Group of International Relations.
He is a scholar of international politics. His research focuses on civil wars, political violence, and peace operations. His research has been published, among many journals, in the British Journal of Political Science, Comparative Political Studies, European Journal of International Relations, European Journal of Political Science, International Security, International Organization, Journal of Conflict Resolution, Journal of Peace Research, Political Geography, Political Science Research & Methods, World Politics and edited volumes.
He has published a book co-authored with Vincenzo Bove and Chiara Ruffa with Oxford University Press entitled “Composing Peace. Mission Composition in UN Peacekeeping” (2020) and recently published another book with Giampiero Cama “Potere, Incertezza e Identità. Elementi di Scienza Politica” (2023, Mondadori).
He has been advising several national and international institutions, among these the Peace Operations Department of the United Nations and the Early Warning Analysis Team of World Food Programme. He is a member of the Working Group on Peacekeeping Operations, Folke Bernadotte Academy (Sweden ) and Senior Research Associate of the Istituto per gli studi di Politica Internazionale (ISPI).
