Welfare, Sustainability and Eco-Social Policies

Stefano Ronchi is Assistant Professor at the Department of Social and Political Science of the University of Milan. Previously he was Postdoctoral researcher in the SOLID ERC-Project (University of Milan), and Max Weber Fellow at the European University Institute in Fiesole. He holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the Research Training Group SOCLIFE (Universities of Cologne and Duisburg-Essen).

His research interests include comparative welfare state analysis, labour market policies and the politics of EU social policy, which he addresses through both quantitative and qualitative methods. More recently, he has been studying the social consequences of the green transition and the provision of occupational welfare in Italy.

He has published in journals such as West European Politics, Socio-Economic Review, Journal of Social Policy, Journal of European Social Policy, Social Policy & Administration, International Political Science Review, South European Society and Politics. He has a book out on ‘Social Reformism 2.0 Work, Welfare and Progressive Politics in the 21st Century’, with Maurizio Ferrera and Joan Miró (Edward Elgar, 2024).
